Vehicle underbody rust treatment (on a Mk4 Mitsubishi Shogun)
In this video I undertake underbody rust treatment on my 2013 Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero. These are prone to underbody corrosion so I wanted to spend some time treating this as I'm intending to keep this vehicle for a long time.
My steps were:
1. Preparation
2. Treat existing rust with Bilt Hamber Hydrate-80
3. Treat cavities with Bilt Hamber Dynax-S50
4. Treat the critical areas with Lanoguard Moto grease
5. Treat the whole underbody with Lanoguard Moto spray

A 2 litre bottle is enough to do a large 4x4, so will do most vehicles. I got two bottles as I applied it twice to critical areas and also have enough left to do my Tesla Model Y. A video of that will be coming soon.
I purchased the "large kit and injector pack" which includes 4L (2L x 2L) Moto Spray + 600ml Moto Grease + Trigger Sprayer + 360 Injector Wand + 1L Pro Sprayer Bottle. I didn't use the wand or spray bottle as I used the Bilt Hamber Dunax-S50 instead for treating inside cavities. So in hindsight, I should have just purchased the "large kit".

Buying tyres for your EV and specifically looking at the Tesla Model Y Hankook tyres
Переглядів 4 тис.День тому
In this video I cover EV tyres. From buying replacements, repairs, brands and tyre shops knowledge. I use my Tesla Model Y as an example and as this is the world's best selling car, it's a good vehicle to use and should help a lot of people. In the UK, the Tesla Model Y comes fitted with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 EV T1 (K127E) tyres. The T1 means they are a Tesla specific tyre. You do not have to ...
Tesla adaptive headlight & auto wiper improvements in OTA update 2024.20

In the over-the-air update version 2024.20 (in June 2024), Tesla introduced improvements to the LED matrix adaptive headlights. In this video I go for a drive to see if I can see the differences on curves in the road and ...
Tesla introduces cabin filter health monitoring in the Spring 2024 OTA update
Переглядів 1,6 тис.День тому
In the Spring 2024 over-the-air update (version 2024.14.x), Tesla introduced cabin filter monitoring. This change in the service menu is monitoring the health of the cabin filters and the HEPA filters (if your car has those). Tesla recommends replacing the cabin filters every 2 years on vehicles without the HEPA filter (Model 3 and older Model S, Y) and every 3 years on vehicles with the additi...
Replacing rusted rear heater water pipe bracket on a Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero

Nissan Leaf cabin filter covers break. A viewer kindly sent me a 3D printed replacement.
Переглядів 44814 днів тому
A common problem on the Nissan Leaf is that the cabin filter cover breaks. Using the filter cover with a missing latch at the top results in air being blown out of the heater box and not going through the cabin filter or the proper air flow path. It will also result in less air through the vents. You can try to secure it with some tape, but the air flow will probably still push the cover off. Y...

Lifting or jacking a Tesla or other electric vehicles
Переглядів 3,3 тис.28 днів тому
Lifting or jacking an EV is no different to lifting any other vehicle, in that you should lift the car from the designated jacking points. This is normally pinch welds on the sills. However on a Tesla, the jacking points are next to each corner of the battery pack and are simply holes in a metal rectangular plate. On a Model S and Model X the jacking point is flush with the battery pack. On a M...
EV regen braking explained (& maximum regen test in a Hyundai Ioniq Electric)

Question please: When a Caravan fridge is switched on to "Vehicle power" and the vehicle is "running" (Whatever that means for an EV) is a full 12Volt still available at the fridge ? ( My van fridge requires 10Amp at 12Volt to operate correctly ) Also When a Caravan fridge is switched on to "Vehicle power" and the vehicle is "running" is there any change to the "12 Volt" supply to the caravan battery. I ask because I've encountered poor installations where the caravan battery discharges into the caravan fridge via the 13 pin socket system in the car Thanks

Could there be a difference among the various adapters as well? I’ve got a MY with a towbar that was fitted at the service center. It takes some effort to fit the adapter.

There could but I think its more about the fitting alignment. Some people have got the service centre to adjust the tow hitch mounting to correct this. See the full video ua-cam.com/video/TifLpKXZt7g/v-deo.html

Ironically you have to turn off the high beam to notice the change. On low beam, you will notice the top rectangle that usually light the passenger side. While the car is running the matrix lights will shift, but it will not illuminate the corners. So if you are on high beam you will not notice the change, as it just shift the top rectangle which usually is illuminated on high beam. I still don’t like the auto wipers.

My 2021 Y was one of the good ones I guess, I haven’t noticed gaps or anything major. I did have to screw in one of the bolts at the front, it was half way out from the factory. So far so good, no rattles or crazy gunks. But it’s been 25k mi, we’ll see at 50k. White is such a nice color.

I thoroughly enjoy my 2020 Ioniq limited. I've cracked 7kwh in mine on a 72° cloudy day. I feel when temperatures rise above 75°-80°F, a bit more energy is pulled out of the battery packs. I'd assume possibly the coolant pumps and fans may have to use more power as the packs heat up, which may slightly drop kwh range. But overall, the 5 or so EVs I've driven the past few years, the Ioniq is by far the most efficient. The Audi E-tron I drove was getting 2.1kwh and the Tesla Model Y 3.4kwh. Yes, they are nicer as far as luxury and are ridiculously fast, but if you work, don't need 0-60 times sub 4 seconds and care about saving money, the IONIQ wins hands down.

Bilt Hamber Atom Mac amzn.to/3RDWiwC is a great product for stopping corrosion on brakes. You dilute this from 2%-5% in water and spray onto surfaces to be protected and in any cavities. So the 500ml bottle will last ages. Its a product that you can use on car brakes. Also, do some hard braking at speed to keep the discs and pads clean and moving. Atom Mac How To Use: Dilute from 2 - 5% in water and spray onto surfaces to be protected. Atomise onto brake discs and surfaces after washing the vehicle and allow to dry (use 1-2% in water on motorcycles and bicycles and 5% on cars with disc brakes). Atomise into voids to protect interior surfaces at a rate of 2ml (of neat product) per litre of space. Atom-Mac should be diluted to 2- 5% to neutralise corrosive winter road salt and sprayed liberally on vehicle undersides this rate also provides invisible protection to bicycles, machinery tools and equipment. To use following Deox-C or Deox-GEL, or blast cleaning treatment, 2% added to the rinse water is sufficient to eliminate flash corrosion and protect the treated item. Sealing in a plastic bag or container traps the migrating corrosion inhibitors and adds further protection. Atom-Mac can be used in pressure washers and can be applied to the entire underside where it will neutralise road salt and emit power corrosion inhibitors. It should be applied at the end of each wash. Even wet cars can be put into storage allowing the migratory inhibitors to protect the entire vehicle. Aim for 2% Atom-Mac strength from the pressure washer nozzle.

    • @GoGreenAutos
      @GoGreenAutos 4 дні тому

I would agree that not having a rain sensor was a silly move by Tesla. I did also think the same about ultrasonic sensors. But Tesla finally have cracked the high fidelity park assist. Its very clever and detects more than sensors did. So while they took their time, they got there eventually. The same will happen with the auto wipers. But they should have kept the hardware there until the software was ready.

After trying both maximum regen and mild regen, I can say full one pedal mode regen has its disadvantages. The strong friction prevents the car from coasting as freely as it would in the lower setting. The strongest setting is more useful in slow, heavy traffic.

Ok I'm being serious and I hope I don't get roasted to bad in the comments 🙈 I have seen many bicycle tires in my day and when you take off the tire I see the inner tube but every time I have a car tire replaced I never see an inner tube 🤔🤔 Do car tires have inner tubes ?? If they don't how does a tire go flat when getting punctured by a nail or screw etc ??? Isn't just rubber , you stick a nail in rubber nothing really happens it goes back to it's shape. The only thing I can think is when they put the tire on the rim this makes an air tight seal hense keeping the tire inflated , is this assumption accurate?? Again thank you to anyone who responds as I seriously don't get how a tire goes flat if it doesn't have an inner tube 🙏🏻😎👍🏻

    • @GoGreenAutos
      @GoGreenAutos 4 дні тому

Car's don't use innertubes as they're actually worse for punctures and can blowout and deflate quicker. I think balancing is an issue too so no good for high speed driving. Agricultural and low speed industrial vehicles will often use innertubes still. On cars, the tyre needs to be filled with air to keep its shape and support the weight of the vehicle. When fitting a tyre, it does correct an air tight seal on the inner rim of the wheel.

My wife has the distinction of having 2 flat tyres in the space of 3 months of owning a model Y. The first time we got it replaced by Tesla - they towed, fixed and replaced it with the Hankook model tyres it shipped with. Bill was over €500. Second time she went to a garage and got some no-name tyre of same spec and it was €150. There is no difference in profile or anything though I didn't look in the original tyre to see if it was insulated. I imagine it probably was. But I think from now on, if we get a flat we'll just get a tyre of the right profile without worrying too much since those Hankooks are damned expensive. I'm also going to buy a can of that Holts tyreweld because Tesla cheaped out on supplying a tyre pump / emergency foam with the car and want a ridiculous €130 for their system.

    • @GoGreenAutos

« Just Taxis ». And what do you do that makes you superior and more entitled to drive your Tesla?

The release notes tor 20.1 and 20.3 say that the curve-following adaptive headlight update is ‘not relevant for the UK’.

I absolutely hate having to hand my car over to get the tires done. How much would you charge to install four tires and balance?

Exactly what my wife likes about this car, looks like an ordinary car but it’s electric. There’s a lot to be said for it personally I’ve recently had a Tesla, I adrima the technology. I adrima the acceleration but I just didn’t love the car. Take Audi A6 sports every day of the week.

While this is interesting information, i'm not sure exactly how useful it is at this point. I just checked on my 2022 model 3 LR with 38k KM on it, and it shows 98%, so I'm not sure how Tesla calculates it. My first thought was it's based on airflow calculated by the motor current draw, but then i also saw in the service mode you have the option to click on the filter and "reset the counter", so it must at least to some degree also be based on time. It would be interesting to see if this percentage changed anything at all if you either installed a very dirty/clogged filter and used it for like a week or so without resetting the counter (or went from a very dirty filter to a brand new one) - or if it's really just a timer-based counter.

Thanks for the video. I'm hoping not to need tyres for the length of the lease, but if I do I will be buying Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Put them on a previous car and they completely transformed the noise, grip, handling.
